To offer affordable silver to their customers after the skyrocketing prices of silver Fire Mountain Gems and Beads has now silver-filled wire and findings. The silver-filled wire and findings had a durable coat of sterling silver (.925/20) over a copper metal. And it also has an anti-tarnish coat so it doesn't patina over-time.

Is there such a thing as too much sparkle?
I would think not but some (a small amount) seem to think that the whole sparkly trend is overrated and too much.
I really like glistening jewellery but a nice matte piece is just as fantastic.
But what you like? Some sparkle? No sparkle? Burn-your-retina shiny? D. all of the above?
In my case I would say D. all of the above.
What's you verdict?

College of work from 2010
Another college like the one I showed you in my previous post but this is both wire and beadwoven jewellery.
Enjoy!
Carolyn
Lots to do...so little time.
The new year has already started and I am way behind ( by way behind I mean still sitting in the 2010 phase). I actually have loads of new designs sketched but now I only have make them a reality and to see if they can work as I think they can. And my recently found love for wire-wrapping kept me busy last month I am all out of wire at the moment.
I am also going to open a shop on Etsy (well already opened but nothing listed yet). Here's the link Carolyn's Jewellery Box on Etsy. So for a while I have been exploring Etsy and even made a few Treasuries featuring jewellery, artwork etc. My favourite of the few is one that features the work of my fantastic and talented friends.
But I am still unsure about selling my work online. A lot of questions roll around in my mind like- "Is my work good enough to sell, design-wise and constructed well enough too?" I know once I start listing my work I will know.
But in the mean while take a look at some of my new work and look out for some even newer beadwoven work LOL.
See my Flickr for more photos of my work Carolyn's Jewellery Gallery
Until then- Carolyn
PS. Happy New Year!

Victorian Era- What inspires my jewellery.
Alot of my inspiration on jewellery is based on the Victorian Era. Why? I don't know, it just attracts me like sugar attracts ants. Maybe it is the romance and peacefulness or maybe the thought of Queen Victoria decked out in bling head to toe and the beautiful gowns she wore.
Well I may not know why I am so infatuated with this but let's take a look at jewellery elements of the Victorian Era.

- Hearts
- Anchors, snakes, crosses, birds, clasping hands, flowers
- Greek, Etruscan, Egyptian revival
- Fligree works of gold
- Lockets
- Jet black enameling
- Dragons, crecents, moons, stars, butterflies, salamanders.

I know what's you will ask..... "where have you been?""
My last post was last month...... I know.. I know.. I haven't been busy. To be honest I just wasn't feeling very well and I am now slowly getting back into the daily grind.
But enough about me, let's talk about you.
Rings and Things Blog Partner are for people who blog/tweet/Facebook. You can submit your name and blog link and every month they randomly choose persons to receive a goodie pack. If you are chosen to receive one you make jewelry with the merchandise to show off online, review it, and/or give away the products as prizes in a contest at their blogs. Just make sure you disclose any compensation you get for mentioning their products. For more info check out Rings and Things Blog Partner Program
Moving on let's check out contests.
Beads-N-Blessings hosted their first contest called Art with Heart Beading Competition a while ago and the second one has began.
Art with Heart Beading Competition is for charity where 10% of the proceeds of all kits sold will go to various charities including The American Heart Association, Make A Wish Foundation, National Breast Cancer Foundation, St. Jude’s Research and the American Diabetes Association.
For the second cycle the theme for the kit is Stormy Weather. Just 25 kits are left so get them while they are still available. Read more at Beads-n-Blessings Art with Heart Cycle 2.
Another contest still accepting entries is the 2 Annual Haute Couture Beading Contest. I blogged about this before and I am still in the process of thinking of my entry piece. Again you can read more in the post I wrote before Haute Couture Beading Contest or go to directly to the website.
When I wrote about this before there wasn't any entries yet but upon my recent visit to the website there were a few entries that are just jaw-dropping gorgeous. So do hop over and check out 2010 entries or the entire contest itself.
Okay, I am still not 100% back to normal but I just had to start blogging once again. So it's a little short but informative though.
Have fun jewellery making
See you until I blog again
